Sarah has always been passionate about food and is an accomplished chef who enjoys creating delicious and beautiful meals with various food sensitivities in mind. Born and raised in Northern CA, Sarah came to Central California after living in Pittsburgh, PA, Los Angeles, New York City and most recently, Santa Cruz, CA. With a BFA in Music Theatre from Carnegie Mellon University, she has a background in dance, acting, and singing that began at a young age and she continues to be inspired by art every day!
After many years of battling food allergies, chronic pain, adrenal fatigue, and digestive issues, Sarah took her well-being into her own hands. With limited resources and support from her doctors, she knew there had to be another way to enjoy the foods she loved without causing further harm to her system. This journey led Sarah to developing a lifestyle which includes a gluten- and soy-free diet, growing her own organic fruits and vegetables, connecting with small sustainable farms, and adopting a more holistic lifestyle. When her grandfather was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease in 2015, Sarah became his advocate and primary caregiver, further affirming her passion for food as medicine. These personal health concerns led her to re-evaluate her purpose, so she went on to study Holistic Nutrition at Bauman College in Berkeley, CA and then with American Fitness Professionals & Associates (AFPA). As a Certified Holistic Nutritionist Sarah is able to guide, educate and support her clients to make healthier choices while nurturing the aspects of their relationships to the foods which bring them pleasure. In 2020, she became an Autoimmune Paleo Certified Coach, to better serve clients with suspected or diagnosed autoimmune disorders. Sarah was inspired to do so because of her own health journey, which resulted in a diagnosis of psoriatic arthritis and fibromyalgia. While she has reduced her inflammatory markers primarily by adopting the AIP protocol, Sarah believes deeply in working in an integrative manner with both Holistic and Medical professionals, and often uses several dietary principles based on each client’s specific needs.
Sarah lives in Fresno, CA and is committed to supporting the community through connection with local farmers, artists, musicians, holistic and functional health providers, community organizers and as an educator and former board member at Fresno Freedom School in West Fresno.
Sarah’s commitment to your experience with Soulful Nutrition is to provide a safe, fun, and peaceful environment to receive education and insight into the ways which you can heal through food.
